Regeneration, also referred to as healing, is the ability to rapidly recover from a physical trauma or injury. All vampires possess this ability, though Legacy vampires regenerate at a much faster rate. They can also regenerate a entire limbs or body parts, with made vampires unable to recover from such attacks. However, this healing factor cannot save a made vampire from severe physical damage, such as trauma to the heart from a wooden object.

Examples and Limitations[]

  • Juliette didn't die after being staked through the heart by Calliope Burns. After removing the stake the gaping wound healed within seconds, but left behind a residual marking that took longer to heal.
  • Juliette picked up Calliope's silver bracelet but instantly dropped it when it made contact with her palm. It left a harsh red burn on her palm that lasted for several hours before fully disappearing. Any contact with silver weakens a vampire and keeps them from healing or reaching their full power. Oliver, an older and more mature Legacy, couldn't break free from the silver chains that restrained him.
  • The Legacies that attended Juliette's Malkia ceremony all healed after being impaled in multiple ways by the hunters wielding silver stakes. They fell to the ground and seemingly died, laying lifeless and failing to heal for several minutes. When they did awaken, they were weakened but still fought against the remaining hunters. However, Sebastian Fairmont, a made vampire, was also stabbed but did not heal as quickly. He fed off Margot to keep his strength but would have perished if he wasn't turned by the Malkia.
  • When fighting off a hunter, Juliette was punched in the lip which caused her to bleed. The surface wound healed almost instantly.
