First Severing is the sixth episode of Season 1 of First Kill and the sixth episode overall.
Premise[]
Efforts to keep Juliette and Cal apart escalate as their wary families reach a mutual understanding during a murder investigation.
Synopsis[]
Calliope, Juliette and their mothers are asked to come to the school. They meet the principal and detectives who show them that there's video evidence of them being near Noah when he died. Their mothers are first very defencive but Juliette admits she was trying to help while Cal denies being there. On their way out, the Margot and Talia have a tense talk and decide to have a proper meeting all parents on how to handle the issue.
There are now more media attention, and attention drawn to the vigilante group MAAM which concerns Apollo due to how it might reflect on him. When Talia and Calliope get home, they explain to her that she needs to go through a ritual, a 'severing', to break the bond Juliette's venom has on her. With some persuation from her father, she agrees.
Sebastian Fairmont, as the DA in Savannah, is also having trouble with the MAAM group who hold a protest as he's trying to calm everyone and deny that the mosters are back. Inside, he tells Elinor she's not allowed to join the meeting with the hunters and that she should be the one get Bunny Wheeler, leader of the MAAM group and someone they often spend time with, back on their side. The meeting itself is tense, with mainly Talia antagonizing the Legacies, but Jack and Sebastian help keep the conversation about business. Sebastian has the video evidence of the girls and they agree to let Jack and Talia take it temporarily in order to manipulate it and not show anything. In return, Talia also asks that they keep their daughter away from theirs, which they agree to.
Later that night, Theo performs the severing on Calliope with the whole Burns' family there to support them. Cal gets visions of her and Jules together, but something goes wrong and Theo gets a vision of when his mother died. She was killed by a vampire in daylight. The following days he gets bad and very realistic nightmares, as if he was there. Cal feels weird but seems to get better quick.
One night, Cal and Jules meet in secret. Cal climbs up a trellis to Jules's room and they kiss and bond a bit. Cal tells her about the severing and that they can't be together - but unbeknownst to her, she's actually in Jules dream. Jules tells her but she wakes up by a knock at the door. Someone left a package with a pair of boots. Elinor sees them and they assume its from their mother, then Elinor convinces her to go out dancing with her that night even though she's suspended.
Cal helps Apollo infiltrate the MAAMs by guessing the password (Bunny's favourite drink). At the Wheeler's house, Ben tries to convince his mother to calm down with the MAAM thing, but she refuses.
Elinor and Jules party, take shots and dance. When they're not looking, someone puts an envelope in Jules' bag. Elinor finds a very drunk man and lures him out. Together, they drink on him until he dies and Jules is devastated. They throw his body to the alligators and Elinor takes a keepsake, his licence, and puts in in a garage. Jules goes to stay with Ben and they read the letter from Oliver. She tells him Oliver's girlfriend says he can turn her into a human and they consider Jules' options. Ben thinks she should do it as she has nothing to lose.
Margot gives Elinor a necklace as a gift for being the new Keeper-In-Waiting.
Apollo teaches the Bunny and the MAAMs self defence/staking when Elinor drops by. He keeps her from getting in or getting noticed by the group.
At night, Juliette climbs a window and Cal finds her, having sensed her presence. Juliette needs Cal to invite her in, which she does. They talk and kiss for a bit, but then Theo needs to talk to Cal. Jules hides in her room in the meantime. Theo tells her he's having nightmares and asks if she's having them too. He says he thinks his mother was killed by a Legacy and is considering if one of them is living in Savannah. Cal tries to persuade him its too much of a coincidence. Jack comes down saying he was looking for Cal in her room and she almost gives away the lie. But he just wanted to ask if she needed more ice cream, which he goes out to get for her. Cal comforts Theo a bit but then goes back to Jules. They spend the night in Cal's bed.
The following morning, Sebastian and Margot finds that their garage has been vandalized (spraypainted). Phillipa's dog finds the body of Clayton Cook when they're having a memorial for Noah.
Full Summary[]
The episode starts outside the school, where there are multiple police and a news van (WTDC 11). Calliope and Talia walk together. Another news reporter from WSAV 3 is talking in front of the camera about Noah Harrington, that he was a star athlete but that he was brutally murdered last week. Sources close to the investigation say "What happened in these hallways was by all accounts unnatural".
Talia tells Cal not to say anything during the meeting and that she'll do the talking. She then says they'll soon be done with that school, to Calliope's surprise since its the middle of the semester. She says they're leaving Savannah, and before she can ask, there's a 1000 reasons why but she only needs to hear "because I said so". Cal insists that it will look suspicious if they leave so soon after Noah's death, and Talia says that's why they're going to wait a few weeks. She then turns to her saying that her little fling with that vampire is over. Cal slows down, upset and unsure of what to do next.
Inside the principals office, a slouched Juliette and her mother Margot is already waiting. Margot greets Talia when they enter and Juliette straightens up. She asks what they're doing there and Talia replies they're about to find out. Cal looks nervously between them. The principal, Cyrus Waters, joins them along with two detectives, and asks everyone to join them in a meeting room.
Detective Lee shows them a pad with a video that has both the girls on it. He says its just before Noah was killed. Jules and Cal share a nervous look. Talia questions if he assumes her daughter was involved and Margot says she can't even see anything. Lee stops the video on a very blurry image of Juliette and Margot just raises her eyebrows. Detective Morse says they have some questions, but Margot replies they won't answer any of them without Sebastian present. Cyrus insists that noone is under arrest and Margot replies that she's feeling interrogated. Detective Morse says she just wants to know if anyone saw or heard anything useful. Detective Lee says that Noah Harrington's spine was ripped from his body, but before he can finish Margot interrupts him and says he clearly doesn't have any idea. Juliette interrupts her and explains she was there but she was just trying to help. When Morse pushes Calliope for an answer, she says she wasn't there. The detectives sigh as Talia smiles at them.
When walking back to their cars, both girls get shushed and scolded by their mothers. We also see Phillipa getting interviewed by the same reporter from before, saying that she tried to let Noah in but that Mr. Porter (their english teacher) stopped her. She almost starts to cry as she says she didn't even get to say goodbye. Juliette purposefully drops a ring which Cal picks up and gives to her, letting her hand linger in hers, whispering that she dropped her ring. Talia closely watches her daughers with a look that could kill and tells her to wait in the car, and Margot tells Juliette the same. The mothers both say they're done and Talia accuses her for not keeping Juliette away from Calliope. Margot replies that young love is a powerful thing, but Talia insists she's not in love but instead hooked "like some junkie". Margot steps closer and puts a hand on Talia's arm, much to her disapproval. Margot smiles and says they have family issues and they need to come to an agreement. Talia asks for a location and Margot says her husband's office. She says its public yet private, and Talia fills in "private enough to prevent everyone from knowing their DA is a goddamn bloodsucker". Margot, still smilig a fake smile, asks if 1pm is good, and to leave the nasty spear guns at home. Talia says if they can keep their fangs in their mouths there won't be a problem. Margot says they'll always have a problem before they both turn around and leave.
The news reporter is now interviewing Bunny who is standing with three other women who are holding colourful signs saying "Moms Against All Monsters" and "Humans First". She says she remembers what it was like to be afraid to leave their homes but that they got rid of them and made a mess. The camera pans out to show that Apollo and Theo is watching the broadcast. Apollo says the soccer moms are starting their own monster hunter crew and Theo says its ridicolous, as they have no way of defeating a monster. Apollo says it makes him look bad for the guild and that he won't get promoted. Theo says not everything is about him, but Apollo says he'll agree to disagree. Theo then gets a text and sits up. He says their dad said Cook's officially missing but that the Guild doesn't want them to look for him. Apollo says the guy was a dick anyway, but Theo says that means the Guild doesn't trust them anymore. He reminds them that they lost the Franklins and Apollo says they haven't done right by them or Tess. Theo says they need to move smart, not fast.
Talia interrupts their conversation and says that thanks to "that vampire" her sister is now a murder suspect. Cal corrects her but she tells her to sit down. Apollo makes a joke but Talia stares him down. She sits down and tells Cal that she's tried everything to tell her to stay away from the vamp. But since she still won't, that makes Talia believe that she actually can't. She says she will, but that she doesn't want to move again. Talia says she keeps proving her point. Her brothers listen but don't say anything. She looks to Theo and says its time for a severing. The kids look concerned.
In front of the Savannah Court House, Sebastian Fairmont is holding a speech in front of a small crowd. He says him and the mayor are doing everything to keep the city safe and that people not do things to start a panic. When answering questions, a reporter asks if they're going to reopen the Ashley Stanton case, to which he replies no. The people in the crowd are holding sings saying "DA UNFAIRmont Monster Lover", "Humans First". Another reporter asks if they're going to implement a monster task force but he replies that he's confident in the Savannah police force. Elinor watches him with a smile. A third reporter asks what the plan is for protecting the city, but they're interrupted when Bunny says that two kids are dead. Sebastian tries to appeal to her, saying their kids are best friends, but the crowd starts chanting "Save our kids, kill those monsters" and "Hey hey, ho ho, DA Fairmont's got to go". Sebastian sighs and leaves with Elinor. She says "that went well" and he replies that one day he'll eat that woman.
Back with the Burns, Jack has joined the family. Cal asks him to not to this, but he says she was bitten and they believe they're now linked. Talia says the severing is the only way to separate them. She says nothing is wrong with her and asks Theo to step up for her. He says it'll be all right and that its just a ritual, like a purification. Cal stands up and says she's not doing it, but Talia stop her saying that when a vampire bites a human it can create a psychic bond between them and the severing can break that. Jack asks her to please sit and listen, and only when he says "for me" does she comply. Theo tries to reassure her by saying he went through the same thing when his mother was killed to make sure he wasn't connected to hte vampire that killed her. Apollo asks if the vampire bit him too and Jack says they don't know for sure but they did it just to be safe. Talia says its normally performed under the Guild but that they can't get to them right now, but since Theo has been trained he's going to do it. Cal, still uncomfortable, says she doesn't want to be severed. Talia says their blood has all kind of properties so who knows what's going on inside her? Theo puts a hand on her knee and says its time to make sure she's no longer chained. Cal finally nods and looks at her dad, who nods in response.
Sebastian and Elinor walk together inside the court house and he tells her she's hovering. She says she wants to talk about the ridiculos truce between them and the Burnses. She reminds him that they tried to eradicate them and he says he knows as he was there. Jack Burns put a spear through his armani tux. She asks how he can sit across from them but he says he's a politician and its what he does. Elinor says she can't promis she'll "fang out" and drain one of them and Sebastian says that's why she's not invited. He says she can help by finding Bunny Wheeler and tell her she's not the enemy. Elinor complains, but Sebastian shows his green eyes to him and she gets scared. She says "on it" and angrily walks away.
Inside the meeting room, Sebastian thanks the Burns that they could find the time to meet. Margot and Talia start to backtalk, with Talia saying that her husband impaling him was the highlight of her week, but Jack calms them down. Sebastian sits down, saying that Savannah has been monster-free for 25 years and its been good for them. Jack corrects him and points to the two of them. Sebastian smiles fakely and says they've existed for centuries since they hide in plain sight. Talia taunts him, asking if they should be impressed. Jack forces them to get down to the important part again and says since they're hunters, they don't want other hunters to think they've gone soft because a raid failed. Margot snaps, but Sebastian puts a hand on hers and interrupts her, saying that they have no interest in that either since that means monsters will flock to Savannah. More monsters mean more hunters. Jack, once again, brings them back to the question and mentions the high school incident and that they're video evidence of their daughters involvement. Sebastian says he has the original video. Talia and Jack share a look, and she says if they trust them with it for a few hours their son can make it look like anything they want. Margot smiles in approvement and turns to Sebastian, who gives them an envelope with the card. Talia asks for a commitment to keep Juliette away from Calliope and Margot replies "forever" to which she mumbles "at least". They all agree to the deal, but remind the room that the raid will not be forgotten then shake hands.
Later that night, the Burn's family is in their gym/basement. There's a book of witchcrafs and several potions, stones and artefacts. The other reassure Calliope when she's lying in an operation's chair. Apollo makes a bad joke and hands Theo a glass of a yellowish liquid. He gives it to Cal, saying its part sedative. When she asks what the other part it, he pushes it to her mouth. She drinks it. He explains that they're going to push colloidal silver through her to counter Juliette's venom. Cal asks about the venom and Theo explains that Legacies release venom when they bite as part of the binding process. Since he's been servered, he has antibodies, so he connects her blood to her too. He reassures her once again before starting the ritual. He reads from an old book in latin, then in english. Cal starts to get warm and feel weird. Talia reassures her. She gets visions of Juliette and her together. Meanwhile, Theo hears a whisper of his mom calling his name, then gets a vision of when his mother was bitten and killed mid-day in a park.
When Calliope wakes up she's in her bed. She looks out the window, stretching and tries to read a book but can't. Theo has nightmares of when his mother was killed.
Outside Juliette's house, Cal picks up a small rock and throws it at a window. Jules looks out, smiling, and opens it. Calliope climbs up the trellis underneath her window and Jules laughs, saying "oh my god, this isn't happening!" and asks what she's doing. Cal answers that she's trying to get her attention and climbs into her window with Jules' help. Jules responds with "mission accomplished". They smile, look at each other and hold hands. Cal lets go, looking curiously aroud the room. Jules sits down on her bed with a smile, still admiring Cal. Cal says she can't stay long and Jules says she's just glad she's there. Cal picks up a book, "The Secret Garden" and says she loved it when she was little. Jules agrees and says she thought the world was full of places to hide. She then throws the book away and grabs Cal, pushing her onto the bed and saying "Lie back". Cal says she's pushy and Jules laughs in response.
They lie next together and Jules says that whenever she wants to get away, she lies there and imagine that she's somewhere else. When Cal asks where, she gets nervous and says "I dunno". Cal says she always wants to be where she is, Paris, Alaska, Tokyo. She says her family is there for a purpose and as long as they're successful she's happy. They turn to face each other and Jules says she loves that Cal is so confident about who she is. Cal props herself up on one elbow and says she has to tell her something and Jules fluffs her pillow and says she's listening. She says the thing between them is over. Jules, concerned and surprised, sits up and asks her if she doesn't want to be with her. Cal says she had to choose between her and her family and she chose her family. Jules asks "What about us?" and says that when she's in Savannah Jules-and-her is suppose to make her happy. But Cal says they're not supposed to be, that Theo performed a ritual to sever the hold she has on her. But then Jules puts a hand on her cheek and asks "Then why are you in my dream?". Cal lies down, confused, and Jules awakens by a knock on her door.
She gets up and opens the door to find a package in a black box, but no sender. Inside it are a pair of crocodile boots. Elinor enters the room and appreciates the shoes, wondering where she got them from. Jules says she though they were from her, but then assumes it was her mother. Elinor ponders that sometimes she does have taste. She then says they're perfect for tonight. She suggests her and Jules go out, but she reminds her that she's suspended. Elinor says that since she's suspended that means there's no school the next day, so its perfect. It gives Elinor a chance to show her the fun side of being a Legacy. She tells her to be ready at 8 then leaves.
Calliope lies on the couch, cuddled up in blankets and pillows next to Apollo who's sitting with a laptop with MAAMs website up. She asks where Theo is and he says he went to lie down. She asks if its a migrane and he shrugs "probably" in reply. He then asks if she's okay and she says the severing was weird, like she left her body at one point, and now that she's back she feels like crap. Apollo gives an uninterested 'huh' in reply. She then asks for some ice cream but he says he's busy. She asks what he's so intense about and he replies that he's looking at the vigilante monster haters and says its about to be a shit show, though not as big as the one at her school. Cal asks if he's catfishing bored middle-aged hunter wannabees and he says yes, since if the guild finds out that they think they can do better than they (The Burns) can, they've got a real problem. Cal looks at his computer then asks again if he can get her some ice cream since she doesn't feel good. He sighs but then asks if she wants mint chocolate chip and complies.
As soon as he gets up, she takes the computer. The website has banners that says "No monsters", "Kill them all" and "Not in my back yard", it has t-shirts on sale and multiple links to find out more about their cause. In the middle there's a questionare asking for "Bunny's favorite libation" and she writes "Rose". Apollo is delayed by that flavour of ice cream being out, but she says vanilla's fine. She finishes the question and triumphantly turns the computer back and lies down. When Apollo comes back he says he loves her, but to not ask her for anything else. She smiles sheepishly and says she loves him. When he takes the computer back he's surprised that he's in. Cal says the woman in the group's son in in her class, and she knew what her favourite libation was - Rosé on ice. Apollo says he's about to rock their rosé-drinking world. Cal, offended, says "you're welcome", but he replies with a "yeah" without taking his eyes off the screen. She shakes her head in reply.
In Ben and Bernice house, they say good morning while she makes a smoothie. She shows him her new bedazzled t-shirt with the text M.A.A.M on it, asking for his opinion. He says some things shouldn't be bedazzled. She says she'd rent a plane and write it in the sky if she could afford it. She says his first love was murdered by those things so she should be with the program. But he says he wasn't his first love and that they don't really know if monsters are back. She instists that they are but that the "lamestream" media won't cover it. He says she's the one that taught her that not all monsters were violent. He asks what if you couldn't tell the difference between him and a "nice vampire girl". She says "monsters are nothing like us, they feed off our bodies, our fear" and that the MAAMs refuse to be scared anymore. She then asks him how the "Gwyneth Paltrow" smoothie is, pushing a glass of brown liquid towards him. He pushes it back and says "its not for me".
Later that night in a bar, Juliette and Elinor are hanging out and getting shots. After a cheer and shot, Elinor says "lets dance" and they join the dancefloor. Elinor dances enthustiastically and Jules bobs her head a bit - so Elinor asks her to pretend she doesn't have a raging UTI. Jules, still uncomfortable, tries to comply. At their seats, someone puts an envelope in Jules' red bag. They take more shots, dance more. After some time, Elinor says its time for a 'real drink'. She turns a confused Jules around to look at a very drunk man. Elinor says "meet Mark, drunk possibly high, probably part of a bachelor party that left him behind", meaning the perfect bait. Jules asks the important question of how she knows his name is Mark, and Elinor sighs and says its not his real name and to follow her. She says to smile and Jules gives a very wide smile, so Elinor corrects it saying "not to big, just enough to give a preview" and she complies. Elinor walks up to the man, whispering something to him while Jules nervously watches them. She motions for them to follow her, so they get their bags and leave. Jules asks what she told him and she says "Why have a one-night stand when you can have two?".
Mark stumbles to follow them and when they get to an alley, Elinor grabs and pushes him into a wall. She asks 'Mark' "are you ready cowboy" and he smiles and says "yee-haw". Elinor says its his dream come true and he won't remember it as her eyes turn yellow (indicating that she's using her powers). She then forcefully turns him around and sucks from his neck, then says "Your turn, party girl" and pushes a dazed Mark to him. Jules, looking dazed and between the blood and Elinor, holds him. Elinor says "remember how good your first kill felt? you got this." Jules moves his shirt out of his way, looks at Elinor one last time, and bites. Mark looks like he's enjoying it and Elinor looks on approvingly. After a few seconds, Jules swallows and pushes him away , saying "wow, what is that!?" and Elinor laughs, saying he probably did a good amount of ecstasy recently. Jules grabs Elinor and tells her she makes her so happy her heart's going to explode. Elinor thanks her but says "you're high sweetie". She then asks if Jules want to play a "Legacy-style drinking game", where one feeds then the other. They take one arm each and sip, Jules getting more high and both laughing. Mark smiles but seems to out of it to know what's going on. Finally, Elinor takes a bite from his neck and he falls down. She says "oops, you win!" and they laugh, mouths covered in blood. Jules saying "very funny" and hen she goes down to take another sip, she realizes that he's dead. She stands up, looking at Elinor, saying "You killed him?" but she says they both did and it wasn't intentional. Jules is shook, asking what to do next and if they should bury him. Elinor scoffs, saying burials are for amateurs and tells her to grab his legs.
They drive down a lake and drop him in. Jules asks how she can smile when they just killed a guy. She hushes her and tell her that this is the best part as crocodiles devour the body. Elinor makes a joke about Mark becoming Watermark and that there's now no longer any evidence. Jules looks at her in horror as she takes his license out of his wallet. She says she likes keepsakes. Jules says he had a family and people who loved him, how will they feel once they realize he's not coming back - but Elinor says its who they are. Both her and her parents go out to feed and she needs to stop feeling guilty and do what is needed to survive. Jules says their parents do go out to feed, but that's not what they did tonight. That they don't need to kill to survive. Elinor raises her eyebrows as Jules goes back to the car. They make a stop at a garage where Elinor puts the license in a box. There are other cardboard boxes where it says "dolls", "crafts" and "yearbooks". Elinor closes and gets back in the car, putting the key in the space next to the handbreak. Jules glares at her and they return home.
Later, Jules throws a rock at Bens window, calling for him. She drops her bag when trying to get more rocks and notices the letter. Ben comes out with a facemask, asking what she's doing. She says she's just dropping by. He says to get in. Inside, she takes off her shoes as Ben reads the letter. She asks what's up with his hair (now blonde). He says his closeted sort of boyfriend got eaten by a zombie so he's gay spiraling. She takes his hand and he says he wanted Harry Styles but that it didn't make him feel better so he went full BTS. He then grabs the letter saying they should see what her psycho brother has to say. The letter says something about how they're alike and that she deserves to be human. Ben asks what it means and she says Oliver says his witch girlfriend can make her a human. Ben says "oh, fun, there are witches now?" and Jules chuckles "apparently". She gets serious and asks him what if that's her only chance to be normal. He gets up and fixes the bed so they can lie down. She asks if she can be big spoon and he agrees. They cuddle up under his rainbow duvet. She says she wants things to go back to the way there were, when being a vampire wasn't all there was to her. He says if she's not a vampire his moms freaky group won't hunt her down. She laughs softly, saying "yeah, MAAMs", and that Bunny should probably back off on the rosé. Ben jokes about it being the elephant in the room. He then says the other thing she gets if she goes human is the hot human - if they're still a thing. She says she thinks they're more than a thing. He asks if she's a day crawler, what does she get? Blood and murder? Oliver? What does she really have to lose? She says her family but Ben says he's her family too. They switch spoons and go to sleep.
Back with the Fairmont Estate, Elinor takes off her shoes outside. Margot joins her, saying she fell asleep waiting for them to come home. Elinor says she should blame Juliette who wanted to dance the night away. Margot says one party animal in the family is enough and that she can't take her on nights out anymore. And Juliette is supposed to be on restriction. Elinor rolls her eyes and says she was a killjoy anyway. Margot sits down an presents her with a gift, a red box. She says its customary for the new Keeper of the Malkia to present the Keeper-in-waiting with a gift. Elinor says that gift is supposed to come at a coronation ceremony. But Margot reminds her that they cant have that since only they and her dad knows Davnia is "on vacation". Elinor asks what the plan going forward is but Margot says its only a problem if they allow it to be. She asks what she whispered to her dad before he was saved and she says "Where he goes I follow". Elinor smiles and says she's sorry she doesn't get to enjoy her moment in front of all the other legacy families. But Margot says real power isn't about flaunting it or prove that you have it. She then presents the gift, a gold necklace with a red stone and a signet. Margot puts the necklace on her and says sometimes power is a piece of impressive jewlery. Elinor thanks her and says she won't disappoint her and they hug.
Back in Bunny's house, Apollo is teaching Bunny some sexual-looking martial arts in front of other women in a group. Bunny comments that it was titillating and he says they just started teaching the stake-part at his gym. He then asks who's next and all the women raise their hands. Bunny claps his shoulder and says they'll have more Apollo later but now they need to talk business. The doorbell rings and Apollo offers to open the door since they have important stuff to do. Bunny grabs a glass of wine and fans herself as Apollo goes to the door. A smiling Elinor is out front with a bottle of rosé, but the smile fades into defeat when she sees Apollo. She asks what the hell he's doing there and he says he's on assignment, as apparently she is too. She asks him to step aside but he says they're going to plan a trip to her father's office and some of the ladies have guns. He says she might be able to take a few of them out, but if the goal is to prove there are no monsters in Savannah its hard if a room full of MAAMs are dead. She says she can get past him if she wanted to. He scoffs in reply, saying that without a plan that's not what she wants. Bunny asks from inside who's at the door, Elinor looks inside but then says "until we meet again" and leaves. Apollo then lies and says it was grubhub with the wrong adress.
Later that night, Calliope enters her room looking for something. She finds Juliette in a tree outside her window and opens it. "Fights and climbs, impressive" she says to her. Juliette smiles and asks how she heard her. She says she didn't but that she knew she was there. They look at each other and then Jules smiles nervously and says she has to invite her in. Cal looks a little confused, but then offers her hand and says that she can come in. She takes it and climbs inside. They hold hands and Jules says she's seen her bedroom, so its only fair she gets to see hers. She says she only saw it in a dream and can't believe they're still connected. Jules says she's happy they are. Jules looks around the room, picking up a photo and asking if she was a girl scout. She says it was the only way to get her parents to let her use a crossbow. She points to a number of books and asks if they're all yearbooks. Cal says she keeps something from every school but that she's not in most of them since they weren't supposed to stand out. Jules asks what's the longest she's been in one place and she says a few months. Jules says maybe they'll break the record here in Savannah. Cal, a bit sad, says that they're going to move in a couple of weeks. Surprised, she asks "Seriously?" and Cal doesn't respond. Jules smiles and gently pushes her against the wall, saying she has to find a way to stay. They kiss and Cal asks if its a dream. Jules asks if it matters and they continue to kiss. Cal then gets a text and she says its not a dream - its her brother who wants to talk to her about something important and will come find her if she doesn't find him. They panic and Jules is about to leave, but Cal says she doesn't want her to leave. She says she won't be gone long. Jules stays in the room, nervously saying "okay" after Cal leaves.
Downstairs in the gym, Cal finds Theo sitting in the study-area. He says he needs to talk to her. She sits down and he says its going to sound weird, but asks if she, during the severing, saw any flashes of his childhood. She asks confused how she could see his past. He says that when they were connected, he got rocked by a vision from his childhood. She thought it wouldn't affect him, and he says that's what makes it weird. He's also having dreams about his mom's murder, so real its like he's there seeing her holding his hand, smelling the grass and the bite marks on her heck. He then says that they disappear, so a vampire bit his mom and the bite marks disappear. And he also remembers that it was daylight. Calliope shakes her head, saying no. But he insists, saying that his mom was killed by a legacy vampire. They're very rare and it could be one of them that's here now. Cal says she's sure it wasn't since its too coincidental. She says she's sorry and that she hates that he's having these dreams. Jack interrupts, calling for Cal. He says he was looking for her in her bedroom, and she panics asking why she was looking for her there but saves it saying "when I'm here with Theo". Jack, a little confused, says he sees that now. He says her brother says she wanted ice cream, so he's going to go out and buy it unless she wants to come with. She says no, but thanks, and asks for mint chocolate chip. He finger guns her and says 'got it'. When he leaves, she puts a hand on Theo's knee to reassure him.
When she enters her room, Jules peeks out from the closet. Cal smiles and asks if she's still there, and she says she heard someone coming down so she jumped into the closet. Cal hugs her, saying she's glad she didn't leave and apologizes for taking so long. Jules says its okay, and she took some time thinking in the closet. She says she just wants to live her life, even if she's not sure what that means, but that she wants to figure it out for herself. Cal looks lovingly at her and she says she loves the way she's talking about her life like its her own. It makes her feel like she's supposed to be with her. Jules agrees and they kiss passionately.
The next morning, Jules is lying in Cal's arms. She asks when they're going to be allowed to just "be". She says if they only have a little time left, she doesn't want to sneak around and always being worried about their families killing each other. Cal says they've faced everyone, both monster and human has tried to get between them. "We got this". They kiss and cuddle a bit more. A voiceover with Cal says that severings can bring people closer together.
In the woods by the lake where they had the bonfire, a group of students, including Phillipa and her dog Tiffany, are setting up a picnic. She thanks them for coming. She says they were just there for Ashley's memorial, and now Noah is gone too. She says Noah was an athlete, a wicked good chess player and a really good friend. She says that one time when Ben was alone on christmas, so he showed up late to her family dinner just so he could wish his buddy a happy (and hesitates to pick the right word) holiday. She remembers running out and buying Ben's ear pods just so Noah wouldn't show up empty handed. She is then interrupted by Tiffany, the dog, who runs away barking. Tiffany starts to sniff around a spot and she catches up to her when she starts digging.
At the Fairmont Residence, Margot tells Sebastian to be smart today and he kisses her, telling her that jealousy kills. His expression changes as he looks around and she follows his gaze. He walks out and looks around where their garage doors have been spraypainted with "Monster Lover" and "Fuck the DA".
Phillipa backs away slowly as Tiffany has dug up a hand with hunter markings on it and a beige jacket - Clayton Cook. She says "Oh shit".
Margot and Sebastian looks around their garages and he says "What the hell."
