Premise[]

Blood flows and betrayal burns after a shocking turn of events leaves devastation in its wake — and tests the bonds of love between Cal and Juliette.

Summary[]

Cal and Juliette arrive at the Wooden Stake and enter the bathroom. After a brief interaction with a bargoer, the girls find Apollo and Theo in a stall. Theo is hemorrhaging blood while Apollo can't remember what happened. Juliette tells Cal that her parents are looking for her. Apollo recites the Guild Creed because he doesn't know what else to do. She joins him and they hold hands. Juliette tells Cal she has to leave as the police are looking for her. The siblings leave Theo in the stall, only saying brief goodbyes. Juliette hugs Cal but knows there's nothing she can do or say. She'll have her phone on her at all times. When the siblings leave, Juliette cleans the blood, wipes down the door, picks up the stake, and hides the evidence. She leaves the bar but finds Elinor signature Heart Stopper red lipstick on the ground.

Cal wonders what they should tell their parents now that Theo's gone. They go inside only to find their parents sitting at the dinner table with Theo, who is chatting away as if nothing happened. He's telling his parents about the Legacy raid and how Apollo saved him. Theo notes that "Callie" wasn't there but swears the fangs were huge. She calls him out on the new nickname but he shrugs it off. Talia tells Cal that she's not longer a person of interest in the Cook case as they have connections there. Theo begins to have stomach pains and what he refers to as heartburn. He leaves to lay down.

Theo barely makes it to his room as the pain worsens. He removes his glasses, no longer needing them. He pulls u phis shirt but his stomach is fine. He's sweaty and pale. He lifts up his lips to show two elongated fangs. He turns off the light as it bothers his eyes, hallucinating an Emerald Malkia in the mirror behind him. He remembers Apollo going into the bar and following him a few moments later. He sees the blood clothes in the corner as he begins to cough.

Juliette pulls into the driveway at the same time as Elinor, almost colliding their vehicles. Juliette confronts her over the lipstick and finding it outside the bar. She slams the door in Juliette's face but she follows her inside anyway. Elinor allows her to make one point. Juliette leads with Cal's devastation and how she can't make it better. Elinor knew how much Cal meant to her and destroyed her family anyway. The Burns family will never recover. Elinor brings up the Fairmont family - the Burns's tried to kill her but Juliette is so wrapped up in the hunter girl that she doesn't care about her own sister. Juliette realizes that no matter how much hell Elinor raises or lives she destroys, she never feels bad about any of it. She's completely devoid of morality, a conversation Elinor is sick of having with her sister. They're legacy vampires - they don't follow the rules they make them. Juliette refuses to be gaslighted by her sister; Elinor is a soulless murderer who she's completely done with. Juliette swipes her lipstick case off the stand and goes after another item. Elinor pins her against the bedpost and warns her that if she wants to play the truth game they can. None of them, including their still-shedding father, or the Burns brothers, would be in this situation if Juliette had just drained the hunter girl dry when she had the chance. Or, given her cowardice, simply stayed away from her. Everything that has happened is because Juliette didn't do the right thing. Theo's blood is on her hands. It's on Burns down and four to go. Juliette, crying, promises to never forgive her sister for this, though Elinor retorts that Juliette better hope she forgives her.
