Biography[]
Background[]
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
Clayton interviews Theo and Apollo Burns and after the incident with the Shambler at the Burns residence.[1] They meet him at the Wooden Stake bar for a "standard debrief", and he is very antagonistic towards Apollo. He is entrusted with the Summoner, though not without berating Apollo once more.
After Calliope is forbidden to help with the attack on the Fairmont residence,[2] he is tasked with ensuring Calliope does not attempt to leave her home to join in. While they are alone, he betrays her, believing that if he turns her in to the Guild for "acting irrational" after being bitten by a Legacy vampire, he will get a reward. After kicking him between his legs, momentarily incapacitating him, Calliope escapes; however, though Calliope is kidnapped and taken to the Fairmont estate, he manages to relocate and recapture her.[3]
Cook manages to put her in his car by threatening her with a knife against her throat; though he duct tapes Calliope's mouth, Juliette appears and takes his knife while threatening him to feed him to her family. Cook is unable to prevent Juliette from releasing Calliope, however he manages to take advantage of her distraction and disarms her. Calliope steps forward and knocks him out.
They put his body in Juliette's car and drive to Ben's house. Cook manages to escape the trunk prior to Ben opening it. When Ben goes to leave, Clayton reappears and strikes him with a pole-shaped garden tool. He is then attacked by Juliette, who bites him and drains his blood.
Aftermath of his death[]
Juliette, Calliope, and Ben bury his body in Triplet Park[3]
The Guild looks for Clayton; however, they do not manage to locate him, and do not permit the Burns family to join the search.
Phillipa's dog Tiffany later uncovers Cook's buried body in Triplet Park,[4] leading to Calliope needing to admit to her mother and father that he had hurt her. As his cause of death became known to the Guild, JoJo was sent to the Burns family house to find the vampire who killed him. As Juliette had only done so to protect Calliope, Talia and Jack agree that they would not actively do anything to put Juliette in harm's way, and they do not assist the guild in finding Juliette and Cook's death remains unresolved.[5]
Physical Appearance[]
Clayton has long, gray/white long hair and a full beard. He is fairly tall and strong.
Personality[]
Clayton is impulsive, snarky and greedy.
He's not very smart, or perhaps believes too much in himself, giving away his plan to Calliope before trying to kidnap her.
